On April 5, 2016, Life Care Center of Paradise Valley in Phoenix, Arizona, played host to a variety of animals for Critter Day.
A local farm owner graciously brought some of his animals to bring joy to the residents. Among the menagerie were baby goats, bunnies, chickens and ducks. Residents had the chance to pet the animals, hold them and even help bottle feed the babies under the gazebo in the courtyard.
The event brought back memories for many residents of farms they used to live on and animals they used to raise.
“I love the baby animals so much that I can’t guarantee I won’t wheel off with one in my wheelchair bag!” joked resident Jeanne Foor.
Foor goes out to the courtyard each day to feed several rabbits that come to see her.
“I call her our own ‘Bunny Mama,’” said Sue McCarthy, executive director. “She laughs so hard when I call her that.”
