Life Care Center of Paradise Valley in Phoenix recently presented its annual Rewarding Excellence awards to four associates.
Certified Nursing Assistants of the Year were Vayda Bolgoyen, Dania Castruita-Castaneda and Amanda Davila. Lisa Sheppard, environmental services director, won the Team Spirit Award.
The CNAs were praised for putting their residents first, their positive attitudes and their attention to detail.
Sheppard was nominated for her caring spirit and work ethic.
“Lisa brings her A game every day she works,” said Lorna Mattox, activity director. “She will work any shift to always make sure the patients have the best possible outcome.”
One day, Sheppard even checked in on a patient who had returned home against medical advice, just to make sure the patient was safe.
The awards were presented during a staff meeting at the facility. Each honoree won $100.
Sheppard also went on to win the Team Spirit Award for Life Care Centers of America’s Mesquite Region, competing against Team Spirit winners from Life Care’s nine other skilled nursing and rehab centers in Arizona.
“I never thought I would win such an honor,” said Sheppard. “I’ve worked at Life Care Center of Paradise Valley for 10 years, and to be surprised like this was amazing. It felt good that the hard work and teamwork of the housekeeping and laundry department was acknowledged and appreciated.”
